Located in Vale de Cambra, on the slope of Serra da Freita, we find the village of Trebilharouro, a hidden treasure on the map. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inserted in the list of Aldeias de Portugal (you can consult the website here<\/a>), this village almost goes unnoticed by those who visit the region and are unaware of its existence, being discreetly hidden by the surrounding vegetation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A brief search on the Internet took us to the website of the Municipality of Vale de Cambra, where it is described that the name \"Trebilhadouro\" will have its origin in the words \"three golden jugs\", resulting from the composition of a treasure that would been found in this village. There is also a trail that passes through this village and allows you to get to know the surrounding area, the \u201cPR4 - Trebilhadouro\u201d (you can find out more here<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having been uninhabited in the 1980s, this village has only recently been restored and turned to rural tourism, where houses have adopted names linked to the history of the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The houses retain their original appearance, following the pattern of the traditional Portuguese house of agricultural families, being built in granite. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking between the houses you can see an incredible landscape over the surrounding area. Even though we visited the village in a cloudy day, it is said that on clear days it is possible to see the Ria de Aveiro in the distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near the village, there are still other places to visit, such as a dam and cave paintings, both destinations that can be visited by those who choose to do the trail mentioned above. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arriving at the village, we found a parking lot and continued on foot. It is quickly realized that the village itself is small (it has only about 10 houses), allowing you to explore in 15 or 20 minutes, however, and even though the houses are geared towards rural tourism, they offer a homely feel, as if there inhabited by people who got up every day to work in agriculture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trebilhadouro appears to be a mandatory destination for anyone visiting Vale de Cambra or the surrounding region of Serra da Freita, and you may even try to spend a night here in the various accommodations available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
