Thus, the village won the Remote Villages award, a title won against Castro Laboreiro, who also has a post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotadoamanha.com\/en\/aldeia-castro-laboreiro\/\">here<\/a>. Additionally, you can find out about the remaining nominees and winners at <a href=\"https:\/\/projetos.7maravilhas.pt\/portfolio-items\/7-maravilhas-de-portugal-aldeias\/\">the event website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">The name \u201cPortugal Nativity Scene\u201d is due to the way the houses of Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o are organized<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:56px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rotadoamanha.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/elementor\/thumbs\/Piodao_1-p14grq3q3jmhv4fwq61tsotnycek7dwv1zafrsgdfk.jpg\" alt=\"Aldeia Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o\" style=\"border-width:3px;border-top-left-radius:20px;border-top-right-radius:20px;border-bottom-left-radius:20px;border-bottom-right-radius:20px\" title=\"Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o_1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Located in the district of Coimbra, I would venture to say that Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o is one of the best known villages in Portugal. In addition to being one of the winners of the 7 Wonders of Portugal Villages, Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o is one of the 12 Historic Villages of Portugal, as well as one of the Schist Villages of Portugal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surpreendentemente, estes s\u00e3o apenas alguns t\u00edtulos atribu\u00eddos a esta aldeia.&nbsp;Situada na Serra do A\u00e7or, Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o \u00e9 uma pequena aldeia (quase) toda em xisto onde a maioria das casas t\u00eam as portas e os caixilhos das janelas pintados de azul.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O carro \u00e9, obrigatoriamente, deixado na entrada da aldeia e, por consequ\u00eancia, a explora\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 toda a p\u00e9. From the Church, a small stream that follows the path and passages under houses, Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o is a mystery that is worth seeking to know.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To better enjoy the village, we decided to take food and, with the surrounding mountains landscape, we enjoyed our lunch. Although there are specific picnic spots, the area was blocked due to construction work. However, there are places where you can sit, relax and enjoy the scenery.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the village, we also recommend visiting the Mother Church of Nossa Senhora da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o, which, when we visited it (summer 2020), was open to visitors. However, there is much more to do in the village of Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o, with some suggestions presented below.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:57px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>What to do?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rotadoamanha.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/elementor\/thumbs\/Piodao_3-p30es8mclycro5fwj2wt1xnlk91x6w65p9dqj26lfk.jpg\" alt=\"Setas Percursos\" style=\"border-width:3px;border-top-left-radius:20px;border-top-right-radius:20px;border-bottom-left-radius:20px;border-bottom-right-radius:20px\" title=\"Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o_3\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides <b>getting to know the village<\/b> and to visit the <b>Mother Church<\/b>, you can also get to know the different <b>craft shops<\/b>, with very friendly residents who, without any problem and with extreme sympathy, tell several stories.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is in one of these stores that, as it happened to us, there are <b>sold several liqueurs<\/b>, such as arbutus liqueur, peach liqueur and rose petal liqueur. Even for people like me who don't drink regularly, I recommend this experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still in Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o, there is the <b>Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o River Pool<\/b> and the <b>Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o Museum<\/b>. If in doubt, you can always visit the <b>Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o Tourist Office<\/b>. We still did (and loved) the&nbsp;<b>trail Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o - Ch\u00e3s d\u2019\u00c9gua - Foz d\u2019\u00c9gua<\/b>, which we recommend to anyone who wants to know the part more connected to the nature of this destination.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can learn more about the trail <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rotadoamanha.com\/en\/trilho-piodao\/\">here<\/a>. As the name of the trail indicates, it passes through two more villages, both belonging to the municipality of Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o. Similarly, there is a&nbsp;<b>River Beach <\/b>na&nbsp;aldeia de Foz d\u2019\u00c9gua, que pode ser tamb\u00e9m acedida por carro, sendo uma das nossas recomenda\u00e7\u00f5es.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:52px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rotadoamanha.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Piodao_4.jpg\" alt=\"Serra A\u00e7or\" style=\"border-width:3px;border-top-left-radius:20px;border-top-right-radius:20px;border-bottom-left-radius:20px;border-bottom-right-radius:20px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:38px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon returning home, take the opportunity to admire the mountain landscape. No entanto, existem muitas outras op\u00e7\u00f5es.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the same area it is possible to find the <b>Casall de Piodam<\/b> (website <a href=\"https:\/\/casalldepiodam.eatbu.com\/?lang=pt\">here<\/a>), por exemplo.&nbsp;Numa zona mais escondida, mas facilmente encontrado pelas placas indicativas, localiza-se o Restaurante <b style=\"font-style: inherit;\">O Fontinha<\/b> (more information <a style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.pt\/Restaurant_Review-g1135638-d4350805-Reviews-O_Fontinha-Piodao_Coimbra_District_Central_Portugal.html\">here<\/a>).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the restaurants, there is also the <b>Caf\u00e9 A Gruta <\/b>(more information <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.pt\/Restaurant_Review-g1135638-d4350810-Reviews-Cafe_A_Gruta-Piodao_Coimbra_District_Central_Portugal.html\">here<\/a>). It was in this cafe that we took the opportunity to rest after doing the trail.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o restaurants, and even in the caf\u00e9, it is possible to eat one of the typical dishes of the region, the <b>Bucho<\/b>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:54px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>How to arrive and park?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft has-custom-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rotadoamanha.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/elementor\/thumbs\/Piodao_6-p30eqmccu84zobsjzdpxrcd0qd15xnqst8xmrwl05c.jpg\" alt=\"Aldeia Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o\" style=\"border-width:3px;border-top-left-radius:20px;border-top-right-radius:20px;border-bottom-left-radius:20px;border-bottom-right-radius:20px\" title=\"Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o_6\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although still located in the district of Coimbra, the truth is that the center of the district and Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o are separated by almost 100km. There are not many roads to reach this village, and a large part of the path is made through the mountains in curves and curves.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consequently, the best way to get there is by following the GPS. In our case, in contrast to previous experiences, GPS has shown the way without any problem.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the paths are always curved, the truth is that the roads are in very good condition, making the trip pleasant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend that those who visit Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o do it early, since, in the village itself, there are only about 50 parking lots.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:62px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o is, without a doubt, a mandatory destination for those who like the aura of the countryside villages: everything seems to be very homely and the people are extremely friendly. The landscapes are beautiful and the places are well maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Como referido, e visto que Pi\u00f3d\u00e3o \u00e9 um destino popular, recomendamos que a visita se inicie cedo.
