The Spiritus Porto is a multimedia show that you can see at the Clérigos Tower Church, in the heart of Porto's historic quarter.
Inspired by the poem “After all, the best way to travel is to feel” by Álvaro de Campos, the show links projection technology with sound, applying it in 360º to the setting where it takes place. That said, anyone who thinks the show could be performed anywhere else is mistaken: it has all been programmed for the exact location where it takes place.
Spiritus Porto: Duration, price and schedule

This show began its third edition in March 2024 and has already been seen by more than 150,000 people.
Spiritus Porto currently runs (04/2024) from Monday to Saturday, at fixed times starting at 18h and ending at 21h45 (with 45-minute breaks between sessions) and on Sunday, with the first show at 18h and the last at 19h30.
The show cost 10€ / adult and the ticket can be purchased online or directly at the Clérigos Tower. For those interested, the ticket can also be purchased together with a visit to the monument where it is located, the Clérigos Tower, and be even cheaper. At the same time, bear in mind that new editions of this show are appearing, so there may be times when it isn't taking place. That said, we always recommend that you check before going to see it. You can buy a ticket and check the times here.
The show duration is about 30 minutes.
The show

In our case, we arrived about 15 minutes before the 6pm show and bought the ticket at the ticket office of the Tower. Here we were told that the show was entered through a side door to the church and we managed to get in about 5 minutes later (10 minutes before the show).
The person in charge of checking the tickets suggested that we choose the seats furthest back from the church because we could see better, and that's exactly what we did. That said, you only need to arrive about 15-20 minutes before the show (like us) to get one of the best seats in the “show room”.
Already seated in our seats, we enjoyed the magic of seeing the famous Clérigos Church after dark and without the constant movement of people coming and going. Close to the start of the session, the doors closed and, at the right time, the lights went out and an impressive show began.
Beginning with a short sentence spoken first in Portuguese and then in English, 30 minutes of synchronized light and sound follow, designed to fit in perfectly with the beauty of the surrounding scenery.

If, like us, you prefer to go to the first session of the day, which is at 6.30pm when it's still daylight, don't be afraid to do this experience when it's still sunny outside. The windows are covered and, although a little light gets through, it's nothing to affect the show.
Having said that, Spiritus Porto is an impressive light show that fits in extremely well with its setting. It takes 30 minutes and leaves an incredible feeling in those who watch this true work of art!
