Pinhão is located in the heart of the Douro Wine Region, in the Douro Demarcated Wine Region, a small town that is an obligatory stop for those who want to get to know the region.
Although the area itself is not very extensive, one easily spends a day here, mainly thanks to its main type of tourism: wine tourism, focused on port wine. Situated by the Douro and Pinhão rivers, Pinhão is completely surrounded by terraces that demarcate its landscape and make it truly enchanting.

One of the main highlights is also one of its entry bridges: the Road Bridge. This project by Gustave Eiffel, was built in the 19th century and rests on three major pillars.
one of the most important buildings in pinhão is its railroad station
One of the most prominent elements is the Railroad Station and its tile panels. Built in the 19th century, this is one of the most famous stations in the Douro. It was also this station that allowed the great development of the town and the region, so it is an extremely important landmark.
In total, it is decorated with 24 tile panels that have as their main theme the grape harvest and all the surrounding activity: the harvest, preparation and transport. The panel dates from 1937 and was made by the Aleluia factory.
This station is one of the passages of the Historic Douro Train, a journey of about 3 hours in a steam locomotive along the banks of the Douro River. You can learn more about this trip on CP's own website.

Continuing the riverside tour, we arrive at departure pierwhere you can find several typical boats of the region, the 'rabelo' boats, and where several cruises on the Douro River start - just walk down the road and choose among the various options!
It is in this area of the pier that some of the main restaurants of the village appear. Be aware that if you visit during the peak summer season, these restaurants usually have long waiting lines, closing on specific days of the week.
